About The School of Art

As you will see from all of the lovely images on my website and on my Facebook page @trudiedmunds.SOA & Instagram @trudi.edmunds (please do follow me!) I cover many art disciplines within my teachings, there is a huge emphasis on drawing which is the best place to begin and is the basis of all good well planned out artwork.

.

I enjoy taking my students outside to work in the stunning grounds surrounding the art school, when possible to enjoy sketching and painting 'en plein air'. Within the warmth of the art studio we study a multitude of art subjects both theoretically and practically. On occasions students and I will visit art galleries and exhibitions.

For more information please use the contact me page in the first instance, from then on we can chat on the telephone or arrange a face to face meeting.

My very best wishes

Having taught art in schools and at events in the UK since 2003 and in India since 2005, Trudi began her own private art tuition classes at the Gallery Highwaymans in Risby, near Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk in 2012, also Christmas Wreath Making workshops at nearby Blackthorpe Barn in Rougham and weekly art lessons from her (then) home art studio in Bury St Edmunds in the same year.

A search for a more suitable art space in 2018 lead Trudi to Rushbrooke, a short distance from Bury St Edmunds, where she found the former Rothschild Estate's old carpentry workshop no longer in use. A meeting with the current landowner ensued and a reasonable rent agreed, and so Trudi Edmunds School of Art was formed!

The new school of art in Rushbrooke gives Trudi much more room and easily doubles up as her own art studio, aswell as a great space to welcome students into, where passing on her plethora of artistic skills to budding artists from age 7 years is her absolute pleasure.

Trudi's art classes have a huge emphasis on traditional pencil drawing and sketching, which she believes is the foundation for all artistic practices and an essential part of her step-by-step teaching methodology, from which pupils can enjoy learning about mark making, light, shade, tone, value, balance, structure and compositition, leading on to an understanding of more complex subjects such as proportion, perspective, juxtapositioning, forshortening etc.

Trudi has a professional with fun approach to teaching art, using her own wording and techniques for ease of grasping the basics of art practices, having seen super engagement and magnificent progress from her students, Trudi is contemplating writing a book 'Learning to draw the Trudi Edmunds way!'

Word of mouth is by far the best way I gain new students, I also use social media and www.wherecanwego.com
